Seasoned Songwriters Team Up to Form The Grandkids, Releasing New Single 'Shame and Glory'

Seasoned songwriters Nick Blow and Lucy Mills, both based in Wollongong, Australia, have been writing songs, releasing music, and playing shows for a long time. Having shared a number of gigs in the recent years, as well as a "penchant for hats and heartbreaking songs," the two made a decision to come together to form Australian Folk/Americana duo, The Grandkids.

Currently, both Blow and Mills are in lockdown due to current COVID restrictions in the state, and while they've been unable to play live shows, they haven't slowed - releasing their first single, Shame and Glory, embracing their musical connection to create beautiful, harmonious melodies that sit front and centre of the track.

"The song aims to encapsulate the ebb and flow of love," says Blow. "How we need the flaws in ourselves and others, as much as we romanticise ideas of perfection."

Indeed, the lyrics propel the track forwards, with Blow and Mills' vocals blending serenly, gracefully weaving asseverations of love and romance together with layered guitars born from years of combined experience from The Grandkids.

Ultimately 'Shame and Glory' is a warm blanket you can wrap yourself in - it's warm, comforting, and cozy. It feels like a blazing fire in the middle of the outback, a hot drink on a rainy day, or, fittingly, the warm embrace of a loved one.

We can't wait to hear more from this dynamic duo, and will be keeping an eye on not only The Grandkids, but on Nick Blow and Lucy Mills (under the monkier LEO) themselves, as they continue their musical journeys.

Stay up to date with The Grandkids via their Facebook, Instagram, and Bandcamp.
