Rachel Tidbury Opens Up About Eco-Anxiety in Debut Single 'Hazy'

Small-town artist and songwriter Rachel Tidbury has been in the business for a long time, playing shows, festivals, and supporting the likes of Sheppard, iLuka, and Debbies with her band FiKa. Now, Tidbury is stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist, showcasing her powerful vocal talents in her new single 'Hazy'.

Blending elements from R&B, pop, and indie folk, Tidbury captivates and hypnotises with chilling, compelling vocals and dynamic harmonies layered across velvety smooth guitar played by Ricky Joseski.

Reflecting on 'eco-anxiety,' 'Hazy' responds to Tidbury's own feelings on the effects of climate change, which were highlighted during the 2019 Australian bushfires, when the single was written.

"I was trapped in my home town with fires either side and outside looked like an apocalypse," says Tidbury. "The sky was dark and orange and the air was so hazy you could barely breathe."

Her sentiments are breathtakingly conveyed through her lyrics - at the front and centre of the track.

"As the flames grow ash falls like snow, and the Earth's getting tired, but it is a fighter.

With every tree that falls we all suffer. This world we live in doesn't need us at all."

With her debut single now streaming everywhere, Rachel Tidbury is on track to achieve her dream of pursuing a lifelong career in music.
