HALAN Declares Her Love In 'Kittoon' - An Ode To a Cat

Released on August 8 - International Cat Day - HALAN's latest single, 'Kittoon,' is as much a bubblegum pop power piece as it is a love letter to her cat, Peanut.

Singer-songwriter and producer Helen Zhou first created her solo project, HALAN, in 2020, releasing a duo of alt-pop singles in 'I Don't Know You' and 'A Waste.' In the new year, Zhou has reconnected with her love of electronic dance beats and married it with her feeling for Peanut to create an exhilirating, quirky, and intensely catchy proclaimation of love.

Perhaps the most endearing element of 'Kittoon' is the way in which HALAN has sampled Peanut's joyful meow, sprinkling it throughout the track - most notably, as a driving arpeggio rhythm during the song's bridge.

'Kittoon,' above all else, highlights Zhou's talent as a producer. Her signature style is uplifting, audacious, and characterised by delicious synth layers and driving beats, injected into each of her tracks.
