Grace Mae's Latest Single 'The Music Goes On' Is A Celebration of the Things We Take For Granted

Like many Australian musicians, Grace Mae and her community has been heavily impacted by the COVID pandemic. It is then, perhaps, a silver lining of the pandemic that we are able to hear her new single, The Music Goes On.

“The Music Goes On is about missing things and realising what you took for granted previously,” says Mae. Rather than a more solemn approach to the subject, Mae approaches it with gusto and optimism, her emphatic vocals punctuated by soaring strings, piano, and an abundance of guitar that defines Grace's country-pop style - founded after moving to Australia from the UK.

Indeed, having since performed at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, as well as being a finalist in the Tamworth Songwriter's Competition in 2020, Grace is no longer a stranger to Australian Country.

“I would also like to change the way country music is seen as a whole genre because, I feel, with my generation, country music is passed over. I want my songs to make an impact in people’s thoughts and to make them feel something.”

Despite the rich instrumentation, the vocals stand above all else - polished and vibrant, and dripping with sentiment. In fact, these sentiments are echoed in the music video, directed by Bobby Kidd, which fittingly includes cameos from Grace's family and close friends.

The Music Goes On stands as a fine addition to the annals of Australia's country music history. Because while Grace Mae, as a teenager, is at the beginning of her career in music, it's clear that there is a lot more to come from the singer-songwriter.

Grace Mae will be performing at the 50th Tamworth Country Music Festival.
